PARK AVE

Sydney

Project Description

Our brief for this site was to design a new generation boarding house under the affordable housing state environmental planning policy. Two things were important to the owner of the property, the first was quality of the rooms and the second was maintaining the affordability to the market. We set an ambitious target of 25 rooms and found that with very efficient planning and an unorthodox approach to the architecture of the building we were able to propose 29 rooms.

KELLETT ST

Sydney

Project Description

Liquid design was engaged by Rose Guerin chartered accountants to design and document a new office space. Rarely do we find a building that suits the owners of a company so perfectly. The front of the building is a grand terrace and the rear is a modern minimalist addition. Our brief was simple; to pay homage to the details of the ‘London Townhouse’ and simplicity of the extension. With this in mind we retained the existing ceiling roses; ornate cornices and; high skirtings of the front of the building which became the client area with meeting rooms and entertainment space. We then planned an efficient contemporary office space in the rear addition. The two styles of space were then united by the selection of furniture the wonderful artworks selected by the client.

Gladesville

Sydney

Project Description

Liquid Design carried out the architecture and interior design for this unique industrial building. In this development the owners wanted to create an ecosystem of tenants who benefited from each other while providing useful services to the public. One of the tenants is a childcare operator, another a children’s play centre, another a crèche and the final tenancy a fitness centre. To maximize the site we needed to go vertical so we started with the vertical transport. Off this we planned a common space and the tenancies fed of the common space. The architecture reflected the spatial reigime and the result is a sophisticated industrial development.

Forestville

Sydney

Project Description

Our client for this project wished to create a child care centre that offers the highest standards in early childhood education. For them this means maximising opportunities to enable children to lead in their own development. To support this, specialised staff would deliver different parts of a program including on-site cooking, medical consultation, dance, music, art and fitness. The most efficient way to offer such an ambitious programme is to have a scale that can support the number of services. Our brief became singularly focused on breaking the scale down to an individual level so each child can benefit from the broad range of opportunities offered.
A natural ridge in the middle of the site defines an open air entry and gathering space. This space separates the infant school from the pre-school. Each wing of the building is further divided into a ‘Village’ of classes nestled around the outdoor play space.

Bryant Street

Sydney

Project Description

Liquid Design was engaged to upgrade this 40,000 square metre industrial building into a contemporary industrial complex with 8 individual suites. In updating this 1950’s building to meet the needs of today’s light industrial market it was important that we didn’t lose the history of the site. The upgrade required a new façade, updated translucent roof sheeting, new office spaces, new loading docks and substantial changes to the building services. We opted to over clad the original red bricks with aluminium panels and include a feature awning around the glazed office facades. The result is a new looking building with an intriguing arrangement of antique elements (including the guardhouse awning) on display throughout the site.
