This is one of the few single dwelling projects that we take on. We took this project because the owner is an experienced client of ours and the project was an interesting challenge. This site is in a heritage conservation area and the client needed to fit a considerable extension into a very restrictive local Development Control Plan
Folding spaces to get more efficiency
To fit the first floor into the height we needed to fold the ground floor. Fortunately, the site falls from the front to the back, giving us the opportunity to split the ground floor so we could fit in the first floor. The split in the floors was also where the entry to the living room is. The resulting fold connects the existing building, the living spaces and the main bedroom on the first floor effortlessly while creating a connection to the rear yard.
