45 Room Boarding House
This innovative design for a 45-room boarding house achieves high-density residential utility through the strategic use of prefabricated modular construction. By utilizing off-site manufacturing, the project ensures a high level of precision and quality control while significantly reducing on-site construction timelines. The architectural massing features a sophisticated interplay of concrete and expansive glazing, with curved corner profiles that soften the building’s presence within the established streetscape.
Imagining a new future
The primary design challenge involved navigating the site’s immediate proximity to an existing creek. To maximize the building's footprint without compromising the local ecosystem, the structure incorporates a bold cantilever that extends over the waterway, allowing for the required room count within a constrained site. This engineering solution is paired with an extensive environmental rehabilitation of the creek banks, integrating lush vertical greenery and native landscaping to transform a technical setback into a vibrant ecological asset.
