SDN Childcare Centre Newtown - Natural Outdoor Play Space

SDN Childcare approached us with an existing space that was well overdue for a refresh. The existing outdoor play space was full of primary colours, soft fall and sand. SDN wanted the outdoor play space to be more natural.
The space as the other educator
Unlike most of the outdoor play spaces we have designed, this site had some large existing trees. These always give a play space a head start in terms of shade and play opportunities. Using timbers, stones and mulch, we crafted a series of flexible spaces and transitions that helped form the backbone of the SDN outdoor program. The children can learn from playing in the space.
